Pura Vida is a 1990 39′ Jeantot Privilege catamaran. For all the stats, checkout the Privilege 39 profile page on Multihull Maven and the used Privilege 39 review in Sailing Magazine. We bought her in June of 2008, moved aboard in October of 2008, and finally finished the essential parts of the refit in March 2009.

Here’s the boat in the sling during our purchase survey and at the dock in St. Marys, GA. The Hibiscus lettering on the hull is the previous name of the boat. Pura Vida is fitted a 27 hp Yanmar diesel engine in each hull, and a sloop rig with a roller-furling headsail and a full-battened mainsail.

The drawing below is of the interior layout. There are 4 cabins and two 2 heads. Our galley is down, but unlike the drawing below, it is in the port hull amidships. The starboard hull has cabinets for storage amidships. Outside, the bridgedeck has a very roomy cockpit aft with a table for eight. Inside, the bridgedeck has a large salon seating area and the navigation desk. The boat has lots of storage space both below and above deck.

This view from the top of the mast shows Wes, Lauren, the large cockpit, 12′ dinghy, wind generators, and solar panels. There’s also a nice view of the double, swept-back spreader rig and trampolines.
